Our Urology Residency program adheres to the SAU/ERAS/NRMP guidelines for recruitment and selection, ensuring that all application requirements are met. Applications are reviewed holistically, considering factors such as academic achievement, clinical performance, research experience, leadership, and service. We place a strong emphasis on commitment to urology, professionalism, and the potential to contribute to our mission of improving urologic health in Puerto Rico and beyond, which is further evaluated during our interview process.
Selected applicants will be invited to interviews as part of the interview process following the review of their application requirements. These interviews are conducted by faculty and senior residents to evaluate clinical knowledge, communication skills, and alignment with our program values within the Urology Residency. Additionally, applicants will engage in virtual or in-person program overviews, meet-and-greet sessions, and Q&A opportunities with current residents. We strive to offer a fair, transparent, and supportive process that allows candidates to learn about our training environment while we learn about them.
Following the interview process, the selection committee compiles a rank list in compliance with NRMP Policies, considering all application requirements. All decisions are made without discrimination on the basis of race, gender, religion, or background. The final match for the Urology Residency is determined through the NRMP algorithm.
